jessehd Sometimes anxiety gets so cold it makes your skin crack. Sometimes it only takes a few songs to make you realise there is a key to every locked door you've ever seen. Drops in the ocean ripple across to your landlocked town and wake you back up--- you're listening to MonkeYear. Favorite track: TRACK 5 - Sciorilli.

Living the E(art)h

*LYRICS AT THE BOTTOM*

A cultural and digital project by Milica Janković

curated by Giulia Perugini

with sound design by MonkeYear
and multimedia interventions by Francesca Gastoldi

from 10th of July 2020

Living the Earth is a digital and cultural project, winner of #Živimo kulturu open call dedicated to support culture in the time of Covid-19, promoted and co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, which was launched on social platforms (Instagram and Facebook) starting from July 10th, 2020.

Born from a reflection developed in the quarantine period on the urban space intended as a denied desire to live life, the project conceived by Milica Janković and curated by Giulia Perugini is composed of four consecutive moments, through which social networks are placed at the center of a study aimed at investigating its creative and relational potential.

Using the tools and mechanisms of Instagram and Facebook Giulia Cotterli, Milica Janković, Danilo Sciorilli,Claudio Zorzi and Milena Živković explore the city in which they live (Cetinje on one side, Turin on another) from their homes. Their research starts from the fragmented views towards the outside, visible through the structural openings of the buildings, the real structures that, in the imagination of each artist, are transformed from time to time into reflective surfaces, borders, crossings, portals, thresholds, passages and impalpable encounters with each other.

#PHASE1 – from 10th to 22nd July

The works created in the first phase of the project will be published in the form of a story on social platorms of the project. During 24 hours (at the eand of which each art work will self-destruct) the followers will be asked to interact with the artists' works by leaving a comment in response to the story. The invitation is to leave a brief thought to the social pages (Facebook and Instagram) that describes the work through personal impressions and subjective sensations.

#PHASE2 – from 23rd July to 13th August

The undisputed protagonists of this phase will be the comments sent by the followers of the official pages of the project. They will be published and collected under a single hashtag, originating from a series of surveys conducted in the stories of the two platforms. At the same time, the thoughts of the participants will be forwarded to MonkeYear, sound designer and composer who will be responsible for the design of five sound environments.

#PHASE3 – from 14th to 24th August

The artists, in dialogue with the video maker Francesca Gastoldi, will work on the production of five videos, where they will have the opportunity to reshape the initial work, integrating new impulses from the sound environment and posts of the public.

#PHASE4 – from 25th to 30th August

Video works will be published on the official social channels of the project starting from 25th of August until 30th of August, while the final evenet of the project will be held with the book presentation Living the E(art)h, an artistic, digital and cultural project.

Thus, a propulsive echo comes to life which, by creating a virtual bridge between two cities (already historically connected via the figure of Queen Elena, the wife of the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy, who is originally from Cetinje), proposes to reverse the self-celebrating and self-referential inclination of social media.

LYRICS:

TRACK 1

Here in this Nostalgia
i don't know how to be with you
This Solitude mixed with the emptiness i feel
it's warm as the clouds i see

Oh i stand still, alone

This town appears so gentle this time
i can see
i can see its disturbing calm
while my kindness disappear with the silence
I'm lost in this cube

TRACK 4

I drown out
to save my thoughts
The remaining of the pathway
is still in the drawer

i don't feel the pain
it's not feeling
but a bored
tranquillity
a recollection of stones

Breathing
with the eyes on the door
waiting
confused for your come-

back in the days
i focused my attention
to the confusion i felt
during this distorted times
i don't know how to stop skratching my face
from this thought
i've glued it on me
and it's toring my shape apart

I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
I need just a sign
I need just your move
